About the Project

This compelling design by Mackin Architects Ltd. for the Tsawwassen First Nation infuses traditional log building techniques with a twenty-first-century feel. The interior aesthetic includes various Indigenous motifs, brightly coloured feature walls, modern glass balustrades, and a notable amount of windows and glass doors with transoms.

Our glazing work and the prevailing natural light showcase the building’s handcrafted cedar log post and beam construction. Our contemporary glass products integrated seamlessly with the traditional carving techniques and beautifully crafted house posts for a striking effect.

The finished space represents the community’s ties to its roots and our shared connection to the land. Construction was completed using techniques and materials that positively reflect the community’s commitment to sustainability and reducing the effects of climate change.

The success of any new building is gauged on the comfort of the people inhabiting it. This consideration weighed heavily during the construction process. The resulting structure provides an innovative hub where kids grades K-G7 and teens can drop in for counselling, tutoring, athletics, music and media, and socializing activities. Dekor Glass is pleased with our contribution to this unique and eye-catching centre benefiting local youth.
