After the original glazing company could not finish the work, Dekor Glass was contacted about this project well into the construction process. In conjunction with global design firm Stantec and the construction professionals at Bird, Dekor Glass was able to right the ship and implement our shop’s designs in a compressed amount of time.
The resulting 106,000-square-foot training facility, which was budgeted at 78 million dollars, is an impressive architectural achievement. Located on BCIT’s Burnaby campus, it is one of the largest health science education simulation centers on the continent.
When creating a next-generation teaching and learning facility for tomorrow’s healthcare professionals, you cannot compromise on the quality of products you use. Dekor Glass was tasked with installing high-performance glass designed to achieve optimum energy efficiency and low carbon emissions. Our team worked extensively with Guardian SunGuard SNR 43 and SN 68 coated materials. These excellent products helped the building achieve WELL certification, a rating system based on human health and wellness.
The building’s innovative “four-corner” concept and all-glass lobby kept us busy. Ultimately, the finished glazing remains a highlight in our portfolio and a testament to the resiliency and dedication of our hard-working crew.
